Several Hurt as In-Flight Disturbance Impacts A Delta Airlines Plane Landing at Sydney
Several people were hurt following a Delta Airlines jet traveling from LA to Sydney was hit by turbulence on Friday morning.
Delta Flight 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it touched down at Sydney Airport, an airline spokesperson told. Several cabin crew members sustained injuries.
Local paramedics said they treated a total of five people, and transferred three of them to a medical facility with relatively minor issues that included back pain and headaches. The injured ranged from their thirties and seventies.
It is the most recent case of aircraft encountering severe turbulence, with aviation specialists indicating that global warming is a significant contributor.
The aircraft was carrying 245 passengers and a crew of 15 on the Airbus A350, the representative said, stating that the plane touched down "without further incident" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on Friday.
The NSW Ambulance Service reported they were alerted just only 180 seconds prior to the plane touched down, and ambulances were ready and waiting at the airport.
