Cars in German Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then located numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.

A senior political figure commented the attack left him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
